During a joint press conference, ASP Chief Executive Officer, Brenda Morin re-emphasised that when the Agency receives files, all data are verified before a payment list is produced, which is then forwarded to the Ministry of Finance to initiate the remittances.
By 27th December 2023, ASP had transferred 224 files to the Ministry of Finance for payment amounting to 5.6 million rupees.
As of yesterday, 5th January 2024, ASP had processed and transferred 267 files to the Ministry of Finance, amounting to 6.675 million rupees.
By early next week, an accumulated total of 491 individuals will have been paid their 25,000 rupees each, bringing total payment thus far to 12.275 million rupees.
It is to be noted that 9 files have been returned to the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs due to either incorrect bank details or the account is dormant.
CEO Morin is calling on applicants for assistance to provide updated bank details, thus avoiding delays in payment.
Staff of all entities involved in processing applications for assistance and payment have been commended for their diligence to accomplish the task.
